Programmer Analyst

The Milwaukee Branch of Compuware Corporation offers a wide variety of Information Technology Programmer Analyst. Compuware is the single largest supplier of its type in the Milwaukee area and is on the forefront of a trend toward outsourcing in American business. Services are provided in Information Systems, Software Engineering, and Support Services. Most consultants who work for Compuware are permanent employees with full benefits and continuity of employment between assignments. Per project assignments are sometimes available. Work is done at client sites or at Compuware's own in-house Development Center. Training is provided for consultants through a World-Class Education Center located on-site in Milwaukee. End User Support Specialist (Help Desk)

Research questions and resolve problems with various software applications, including word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, graphics, communications, and desktop publishing. Communicate with users and vendors, maintain logs, and develop procedures. May conduct training sessions. At the top level, may design help desks and manage those involved.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years experience required in a PC networked environment. For leadership position, must have at least 3 years of experience as Project Leader or Technical Expert. Microsoft Office Suite and or Lotus Smart Suite in Windows environment is required as a basis of knowledge. Must be knowledgeable on a variety of software applications. E-mail background is desired.

Network Analyst or Network Engineer

Install and maintain LAN's and WAN's. Troubleshoot problems and answer technical questions from those using the networks. May do planning and estimating for network installation.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years experience with NOVELL Netware and LAN topologies such as ETHERNET, Token Ring, and ARC is required. Background in a variety of Protocols is needed. Protocols may include TCP/IP, working with Internet, and/or SPX/IPX. Experience and understanding of servers and bridges is a must. Work with routers and gateways is a plus. E-Mail experience is required. Other areas where background would be helpful are Communications/Server troubleshooting, PC Utilities, FORWARD, CD ROM, AS/400 PC Support, and knowledge of hardware. CNE Certification is a plus.

Programmer/Analyst (Large System, Mid-range or PC Environment)

Identify user requirements in one or more environment, involving Large Systems, Mid-Range or PC's (including Client-Server). Develop applications based upon design requirements and provide enhancements for existing applications. Implement testing and develop systems documentation.

Positions exist for those with 3 to 10 years plus of experience with one or more operating systems and programming languages as well as with data bases. Background should be with IBM or DEC/VAX.

Project Leader or Project Manager

Position Description:

Lead a team of 5-15 professionals in achieving quality results on schedule and within budget. Project Leaders will lead one project; while Project Managers will lead multiple projects and also be responsible for utilization and evaluation of team members' performance. Project management tools will be used to manage customer expectations and track results. Subject area expertise is expected. Projects may be at customer sites or at the Compuware facility in Milwaukee.

Experience:

Commercial IT Applications - Project Leaders must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Programmer or Administrator. Project Managers must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Project Leader. Background as a technology expert in IBM or VAX applications and the various operating systems and data bases is required. Those with Client Server background are also sought.

Should have experience with CASE tools, project management tools, as well as structural or development methodologies.

Software Engineering - Project Leaders will need a minimum of 5 years as an Analyst or Senior Software Engineer. Managers will need a minimum of 3-5 years a Project Leader. Should have experience with CASE tools, project management tools, and structural or development methodologies. Must be a subject area expert.

Technical Documentation - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Technical Documentation Project Leader or Manager, depending upon the position sought. Must have proficiency as a Documentation Specialist and experience using Project Management Tools. Experience with MAC or PC Applications as a subject area expert is required. Excellent presentation skills are needed.

Other Requirements:

Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and interview effectively are needed. Must have the desire to be a consultant with the skills to work independently or as a team member. It is important to be able to learn quickly and be adaptable to changing environments as well as to be customer oriented. Also, must be able to lead others and evaluate their performance. Negotiation skills are required, along with the creativity to think of imaginative solutions.

Bachelors or Masters Degree in subject area is preferred or high level of experience.

Technical Documentation Specialist

Design and develop paper or on-line documents, using a variety of software tools. Projects begin with creating documentation plans, developing design requirements, and conducting audience needs analysis. Projects end with the development of the final deliverable. Documents will be created by interviewing technical experts and then synthesizing and organizing information with editorial review and direction.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical documentation. Excellent writing, organization, and communication skills are required. On-line development experience is desirable. Must have high skill levels with Word or Framemaker, preferably in windows. Background in graphics packages such as CorelDRAW! is useful and experience with Powerpoint is a plus.
